Letterpress Wedding Stationery for North America

Piccolo Press Ltd. is one of the very few companies in Britain to have retained the old letterpress method of printing from lead type, hand composed by a true craftsman and printed with great skill.
This, the oldest method of printing does not rely in any way on 'technology'. However, the results of a direct impression onto soft paper and card give a simple beauty and clarity of image 'sunk into the paper' that no other printing process can match.
There is just 'something' about an invitation that has been printed in this way, not least the fact that it has been a journey of skill from start to finish.
It is rightly making a huge comeback in the USA.

Letterpress Printing
We are proud that Guttenberg and Caxton would undoubtedly feel at home in our Printroom!
All our letterpress printing is done on one of our four Heidelberg 'Windmill' Platen Presses, all of which are over 40 years old! Your printing will be done by John Sinclair and staff. John has over 25 years experience. He must be the most skilled letterpress printer in the UK.

We have a number of fonts of metal type that we compose letter by letter into a composing stick. In addition, we also make polymer plates to any design, and we can print these in just the same way as we would from metal type set by hand.
You can either send us your design, or we can design stationery for you, proof it and then make the plates and print.

letterpress invitations

You will see from a browse around our web site that Piccolo Press Ltd. has a worldwide reputation for good printing.
There are a number of very good reasons for coming to Piccolo Press Ltd. for your letterpress invitations.

At Piccolo we LOVE letterpress because of the satisfaction it gives us in production and the results we get. Perhaps understated, but recognisable against any other process, letterpress is particularly successful for invitations and wedding stationery.

Card and Size
Letterpress invitations are normally single sheet, size 5"x7". Or you can have the British size of 8"x6". Invitations can be in a folded format, rather than single card, if required.

Somerset Papers
Letterpress printing should ideally be done on the highest quality 100% soft cotton paper and card. We consider that the best paper in the world for this is our 'Somerset range'. This paper (mould-made in the UK by a Scottish company) is beautifully receptive to ink and yet allows the de-boss effect of good letterpress to show to the best advantage.

Other Papers
We can also print on the Mediovalis range of papers that are made in Italy and have hand torn deckle edges. (Prices on application)

Envelopes
Letterpress stationery comes with matching envelopes. Outer envelopes can be provided for the 'Somerset' range, if specifically asked for.

Sample Packs
The card used for letterpress is expensive, the envelopes are custom made and samples are time consuming to produce. Thus there is a charge of $30 for these packs to be mailed to the USA. This sum is refundable if you place an order with us.

To order, simply email us with the details of your requirements.

Just wanted to let you know I've posted a long overdue article about the great work you did on the Grow business card. Lots of interest from colleagues, so hopefully some extra business will come your way. Thanks also for the kind mention of the card in your gallery.
