Piccolo Press Ltd. is one of the very few companies in Britain to have retained the old letterpress method of printing from lead type, hand composed by a true craftsman and printed with great skill.
This, the oldest method of printing does not rely in any way on 'technology'. However, the results of a direct impression onto soft paper and card give a simple beauty and clarity of image 'sunk into the paper' that no other printing process can match.
There is just 'something' about an invitation that has been printed in this way, not least the fact that it has been a journey of skill from start to finish.
It is rightly making a huge comeback in the USA.

Letterpress Printing
We have a number of fonts of metal type that we compose letter by letter into a composing stick.
In addition, we also make polymer plates to any design, and we can print these in just the same way as we would from metal type set by hand.

You will see from a browse around our web site that Piccolo Press Ltd. has a worldwide reputation for good printing.
There are a number of very good reasons for coming to Piccolo Press Ltd. for your letterpress invitations.
- We believe that we can offer you the highest quality of letterpress printing possible. (SEE OUR PAGE OF ACCOLADES)
- We use the very best materials.
- We can offer you very good value for money. By cutting out all middlemen such as designers and retail stores, and doing all work 'in house', we can be seriously competitive without any loss of end quality.
- We have extensive experience and knowledge of the USA wedding stationery market.
- We believe that letterpress printing shows itself best with beautiful layout and typography, but does not necessarily need to be 'designer led'. Thus a simple and perhaps understated design can portray real distinction and taste.
- We can print almost any design and specification, provided it is commensurate with the letterpress process.
- By making the ordering process simple and clear, we reduce administration time and hence the final price to you.
- You can send us your designs by email, direct from your computer.
- We encourage direct contact with us by phone, fax and e-mail. This all adds to the involvement of us with your important day - and is huge fun!
- All our stationery is packed in rigid presentation boxes.
At Piccolo we LOVE letterpress because of the satisfaction it gives us in production and the results we get. Perhaps understated, but recognisable against any other process, letterpress is particularly successful for invitations and wedding stationery.

Letterpress stationery comes with matching envelopes. Outer envelopes can be provided for the 'Somerset' range, if specifically asked for.Sample Packs
The card used for letterpress is expensive, the envelopes are custom made and samples are time consuming to produce. Thus there is a charge of $30 for these packs to be mailed to the USA. This sum is refundable if you place an order with us.
To order, simply email us with the details of your requirements.
Just wanted to let you know I've posted a long overdue article about the great work you did on the Grow business card. Lots of interest from colleagues, so hopefully some extra business will come your way. Thanks also for the kind mention of the card in your gallery. Jon Tan |
