Blind Embossing & Plate Sinking
Blind embossing is printing without ink and moulding the image into relief from pressure on the reverse side of the paper or card.
Blind embossing is particularly successful for chunky and more solid designs. It is also important that a soft paper is used.
Blind embossing has a tactile but understated and elegant result. We love it!
Plate sinking is the reverse of blind embossing and pushes a debossed area into the card. Piccolo has a number of standard sized plate sinking dies, some with straight edges and others with sloping bevelled edges
Blind embossing is often used to put monograms onto invitation cards and place setting cards.
Plate sinking adds that special extra ‘something’ to wedding invitations.
